Ricky is back to Fairbanks on Friday night! He traveled over 6000 miles within a 10 days visiting 54 villages!!

GLOBE workshop was closed yesterday. It was nice to meet many village teachers in Fairbanks!

I sold my sail boat this week. I keep her since 1993, i left Japan with her, spending arctic winter with her and  to meet many people in her cabin.  I had a lot of memories with her. But my mission with this ship is over. So I should go next step (e.g. next challenge).

I like these words, but sometimes hard to use them or being shay to think about. Especially getting older, or passing through mid age crisis… However, I am different now. I did several times completely burnt out, that was good! People use this word as bad meaning. I like use as positive that meaning the mission complete 110%,  but I thought it not happen again, because getting old… But I was wrong! It’s time to Rocky mode. I should get shape like 20s within a 60 days, and trying to climb and to drill at 6000m every month! That will be exciting motivation. Sometimes I will report my body condition!

Nevado Chachani (6057m) is the highest of the mountains near the city of Arequipa in southern Peru. The goal of this trip is drilling 3-10m borehole and install thermistors near summit.

Let’s say 10m of drilling need at least 10m of extension and power head.

I am planning to use mainly diamond core bit. because expecting hard volcanic rocks not icy sediments!

I have to develop bit system and light weight but working well at thin air power head. I will introduce this sometimes soon!
