Our evening drill crew!! Kola (from Amga school) was join us to set up monitoring site!

 

1500 people live this lovely village, I don’t know population of cows and horses.

We had minor problems about car! Shock absorber came out.

Another 4 hours (175km) of on & off road driving from Amga, we arrived Ust-Maya this morning 11am. Ust-Maya is remote town but this province’s capital. We can’t come here by road during summer months.

We visit major’s office lunch together, school was closed by the low temperature. Government office was new 2 years old but already has some cracks! Many permafrost issue…

This morning was -51dC. So we can do anything here, we moved to next town Petropubrovsk. They were open! We visit mayor’s office then all of the city major, leaders coming to my presentation, which was getting very unique lecture!! Students questions are also exciting and continue to another one hours!!

After the meeting, discuss with geography teacher and visit ice cellar. Most of the cellars are 3m deep and about 8’x8′ floor size. Using for ice storage (for stinging water) during summer months.

-49 in this morning! We have little problem here! School is closed -45 for 5th or grade younger, -48 7th grade or younger, and -50 for all!! So only older students are here!

Answer is yes and no! They stay mud small (dark) house all day! Small means warm!! One a day cows are going out to drink water!! They seems happy when I met!

Another day trip to north of the Yakutsk! This is kind test drive for double windows etc.winterization for the car! I’d be lucky to have 50 below condition most of the day!!
