We refuel twin otter at Mould Bay with staying and drilling.

Ice wedge ice coming out…

We tested hand drilling system for Peru, however, better to use like bicycle…

If the another life will be exist and being plant, I would like to be like this grass not garden flowers. Maybe nobody to see this beautiful flowers, but still live strong in extremes…

Just back from Canadian Arctic!

Our one week Canadian Arctic trip is just finish today. It was many things happen this trip. But it turns good memories and taking many pictures. I would like to share some of the pictures next several days…

At first, of cause pingo! We flew over the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula!!

Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula is very unique geometry and many pingos can see from air.

At Banks Island, many polygons are fascinated.

Going to more north close to 80 degree North latitude, sea ice covered surround the islands (Fitz-william Owen Island).

Does this looks Mars?! We stayed at Mould Bay, more later…

Inuvik

We succeed to leave Dawson this morning, but things was not easy like we thought! Inuvik was bad weather and once we landed we could not leave again. So we have to stay overnight in Inuvik! Good news is many Canadian permafrost scientists also stacking here! we had a great time.  Hope we can go tomorrow morning!

Nice comfortable twin otter leaving Dawson.

900lb of equipments are between pilots and us.

we walk to hotel for overnight staying

Some sign!!

We have  VERY VERY LONG DAY!! We left Fairbanks this morning, after the lunch on the Taylor Highway we figure out road is closed after Chicken. We know road is open this week but closed again by the heavy rain!  We have no choice to detour via Whitehorse another 500 miles addition!! we cancel Dawson hotel reservation and drove overnighty to Dawson. 4am we made it, but no rest to keep drive Dumpster Highway for Inuvik to catch up plane!!

But Dumpster Highway closed at middle of highway 200km mile post!!! If we know this we do not loose time more than 5 hours.

I gave up and the way back to Dawson, SOme object hit passenger side of window! Longlong day is end finally at Dawson! We try to fly to Inuvik tomorrow!

Stack at DOT house, you can see river water level is rising high!!

Wales

Kaji is still waiting to fly back! Weather looks not cooperative for him! Hope he will back soon and start filming last episode of Tunnelman!!

This picture was taken in March 2010. It was beautiful day sunset time at Wales school. We can see Diomede, Fare way Rock, Russian Mainland… One of the great unforgettable days goes end.

Polygons made by lava’s cooling contraction. It looks ice wedge polygons but not in the ice  at this time!!
