permafrost news 10-2

Dear Science Teachers and Principals,

Thank you for your supporting to our program. This will be the last newsletter in spring semester. Here is a recent update and the future plan:

1.    I am preparing long distance travel team by reindeer for visiting remote villages instead of snowmachine in Alaska. It will be long shot plan taking next 3-5 years because the training starts from calves. Everything is exciting and new experience!! You can find more about our activity through
our blog: http://www.uaf.edu/permafrost
or
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SnowMobileTripOnArctic

2.    It is 10 years anniversary for our permafrost project in this summer. We are preparing 2nd edition of the data book “Permafrost in Our Time” including Canadian and Siberian schools. It was over 4000 teachers involved. I really enjoyed and had great time meeting with all of you! My mailing lists is now kind full and messed up a little by changing address, turned over, moving out of state/province etc. If you would like to keep receiving in the newsletter, Can you reply this message for me?
I would like to rebuild new mailing list.

Thank you for all of your support and we wish you all have a great summer!

School picture is arrived from Siberia. This was taken on 18 February after permafrost talk. This village had boarding school for Reindeer husbandry family between 1957-1997. School getting much smaller since then but most of the people working reindeer and fish.
