I think this must be some kind of sign?
We stayed 3 days in secret beach house!!
6:50am, it was beautiful twilight!
Quiet beach!
There is no snow at Maui, but…
It seems snow at Mauna Kea, Big Island…
Turtle does welcome us to the Big Island! It hard to believe the permafrost is within two hours from here!
This looks just one small drift wood, but it is big boundary for man kind!!
YES!! this is sign for the President Obama beach and civilian’s… for Hawaii way
Two secret service agents standing on this Drift Wood 24/7!
I did have quiet & relax December 25th!
Problem is too much eat!!
That why I am jogging three times today! Morning, afternoon and evening!!
Time to go Hawaii for many Alaskans, I am going, too, but for permafrost!! We finally got permission to measure temperature at MaunaKea. We will install and exam the highest mountain at Pacific sea floor!
I got visitor from Norway. We are going to drill at Svalbard next March! Great meeting and discuss. After the meeting we visit Fox tunnel!
Then of course! Hot Spring at Chena!!
Last a few days, we had chinook (commonly refers to foehn winds). It was rain in Anchorage, Wasella…some in Fairbanks.
It was not great time for driving at Parks Highway.
Broken Chinook Arch at Healy (One of the most striking features of the chinook is the chinook arch)
I saw first time the moose did not scoop next of the high speed cars. Also she walked right side of the Minnesota drive in Anchorage. Some moose may like city life!?
I guess I was having most bitter experience of this year at Mexico!! But great trip too. New machine, new route, snow storm… there were so many excitements at Mexico. This is great role model myself for the rest of my life!!
One of the biggest finding of this project is distribution of the permafrost in Alaska!
Presence of the permafrost is still almost same as 1950s distribution around King Salmon. Global warming suppose to permafrost distribution shrink to the north, but it ISN’T here in Alaska!!
