we stop to see R. Amundsen’s winter anchoring site near Kings point. After first through Northwest Passage, he and two natives went dog sledging to crossing Brooks rang to Circle City for telegram.
Day 5
Herschel island – Aklavik
130miles long run! Variety course…traverse hills, wild windy ocean, tundra to boreal forest, many over flow Mackenzie river. We broke new sled!!

Kaktovik to Demarcation point
After receiving forgotten gun, we left toward Canada. Passed icy leef, kongaqut icing, staying Cabin at Gordon.

Very bumpy ride to Kaktovik. Giant susturgi developed by storm a few days ago. Many items broke down…
Day 1
Little bit whiteout condition, we left dead horse toward to Kaktovik. We camped at Canning River Delta. We forgot shotgun in the truck!!
Sometimes we had problem, especially double sleds are very heavy!
This morning, first Canadian morning near Herschel Island. Our Arctic Oven tent is very cozy!! after surviving last night storm!!
We stayed Gordon cabin, demarcation point two nights ago! That was last staying in US.

Very rough snow surface, many giant sastrugi! broken many things by the bumpy run
6:30am breakfast and leaving 8:00am light snow -15dC. We forgot battery charger, but found here! Gas up 180litters.
It’s white out today, temperature -19ºC, feel less than normal snow, everything great. We need short stop here, but leaving soon.
